Ultimate-CI was engineered for dynamic applications where lost motion is critical. It combines a reinforced architecture and optimized shaft guidance to deliver superior performance in dynamic environments. The Ultimate series is available with ball bearings (this page), roller bearings  (TR or HT versions). The HT version also features additional fixing holes and a reduced backlash.

The dual-support construction of ULTIMATE, combined with its ISO 9409-1 flange, provides exceptional control of deformation under load, enabling it to achieve some of the best dynamic accuracy in its class.

 

Superior Tilting Rigidity

 

Unlike cantilevered architectures, ULTIMATE features a dual-support design, with two bearings positioned on either side of the output shaft.

This architecture significantly increases tilting rigidity, and therefore:

  • improves angular stability of the pinion in rack-and-pinion applications,

  • protects internal gears under high radial loads,

  • reduces the “stiffness” component of dynamic accuracy loss.

This controlled tilting ensures precise, repeatable, and stable behavior, even in the presence of offset loads or high accelerations.

 

Torsional Rigidity and Reliability

 

ULTIMATE is equipped with an ISO 9409-1 flange instead of a male shaft, which greatly enhances:

  • torsional rigidity,

  • resistance to torque reversals,

  • accuracy in fast duty cycles,

  • mounting reliability in vibrating environments (see dedicated article),

  • fatigue-break resistance compared to a male shaft,

and also allows an AGV/AMR wheel to be bolted directly onto the output.

This increased rigidity directly contributes to reducing the torsional component of dynamic accuracy loss.

 

Hardened Gears: Backlash Stability and Service Life

 

As in the entire Reckon range, ULTIMATE uses carburized and hardened gears with very generous dimensions, ensuring:

  • long-term backlash stability,

  • high fatigue resistance,

  • stable behavior under repeated torque cycles.

These characteristics limit internal backlash variation over time, and therefore the “backlash” component of dynamic accuracy loss.

 

High-Precision Ball Bearings

 

ULTIMATE-CI uses high-quality ball bearings. For applications with high radial and/or axial loads, the ULTIMATE-TR range is recommended, as it is equipped with cylindrical or tapered roller bearings.

Very Low Synchronization Error

 

The monoblock crown made of forged steel, either pinned or directly cut into the casing, increases the overall structural rigidity of the unit, and its high precision ensures one of the lowest synchronization errors on the market.

 

Low lost motion

 

Thanks to the combination of:

 

  • high torsional rigidity,

  • tilting rigidity (dual support),

  • very low synchronization error,

  • long-term backlash stability (hardened gears),

 

ULTIMATE offers exceptionally low dynamic accuracy loss, even in the most demanding scenarios: rapid load variations, sudden movements, high accelerations, or 24/7 cycles.

The transmitted torque remains stable, clean, and controlled, allowing for precise positioning even under strong dynamic conditions.

 

Simple, Safe, and Fast Connection

 

The connection to the motor shaft is ensured by a high-precision balanced coupling, specifically designed to reduce parasitic loads on the motor bearings and guarantee perfectly smooth operation, without vibrations or resonances.

Assembly is quick and controlled thanks to a single-screw clamping system, ensuring reliable motor shaft holding.

Each reducer is supplied with a motor-adapted flange, enabling immediate integration without the need for adjustments.

ULTIMATE-TR is technically identical to ULTIMATE-CI, but with more rigid and higher capacity cylindrical or tapered roller bearings.

 

ULTIMATE-HT also features additional mounting holes and even lower backlash compared to the standard "low backlash" option.
