We’ve developed the PerfectPitch™ concept to address both the noise issues of spur gears and the axial load concerns of helical gears. Here’s how we’ve fine-tuned our gearboxes for optimal performance:
Minimized Helix Angles
We intentionally use the smallest possible helix angle in our helical gearboxes. This allows us to maintain a contact ratio of 2.0 across all reduction ratios, ensuring quiet operation while minimizing the axial loads typically generated by helical gear components.
Rigorous Noise Testing
Every gearbox undergoes extensive noise testing, running up to 6,000 RPM (where compatible with the maximum allowed speed) before being shipped. This ensures that our customers receive gearboxes that meet high-quality noise standards.
Long-Term Durability
Our gear calculations are based on a minimum of 20,000 hours of use with a servomotor at maximum rated torque, or 2,000 hours under maximum acceleration torque. This guarantees that our gearboxes are built to last even in the most demanding conditions.
Conservative Torque Ratings
We provide conservative torque ratings, applying an application factor of 1.25 as a minimum. This may seem cautious, but Reckon prioritizes customer satisfaction over inflated capacity claims. We want our customers to be confident in the longevity and reliability of our products.
Premium Materials for Tough Conditions
To withstand challenging operating conditions such as sharp accelerations, emergency stops, and rapid reversals, we exclusively use carburized and quenched planet gears. These gears are tough and durable, ensuring a long-lasting performance even under stress.
Top-Quality Bearings
We source our bearings exclusively from premium suppliers, including the heavy-duty tapered roller bearings used in our X-Treme and Ultimate lines. These high-performance bearings ensure smooth operation and reliability over time.
Safe bearing Calculations
All of our bearing calculations take into account axial and radial loads over 20,000 hours of use at 300 RPM and applied at the middle of the shaft.
This ensures that every component of the gearbox is optimized for durability.
Stiffened Planet Carriers
Our planet carriers are designed with cages (except for the Spirit and Heliks lines), preventing the gears from tilting axially or bending. This added stiffness ensures that the gear teeth remain properly aligned during acceleration phases, resulting in more efficient power transmission. Load distribution is managed evenly along the pitch-line of the gears, preventing excessive stress at the gear teeth ends.
